last night we went to donna's. a boy named ben whisked us away and told us he was going to make sure we heard good music this week. he told us it was going to change our lives. we saw leroy jones. i never knew i loved jazz music. i never knew how the people here love this music. seeing him love the music, how the people live their music, not just play it-i was blown away. i feel alive. i feel unbelievably real.

we went to the aquarium today. we went to the french district also. i bought a red vintage jockey hat. it is beautiful and i will sleep in it tonight. i miss everyone at home, but here is warm and alive and full ofwonderfully interesting people. alejandro and cleo. wow. just fabulous. i love it here. i wish you were here.
